How To Get Involved

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Cookeville High School values your involvement in your child’s education. After all, you were your child’s first teacher! We are always looking for ways to make it easier for you, as a busy parent, to stay involved and continue helping your child throughout the school year. The following information will provide you with a brief overview of several opportunities for parental involvement:

  • Family Engagement Plan: Each year, a committee including Assistant Principal Bethany Fillers, CHS faculty and staff, community members, parents, and students works together to write and revise a plan that outlines how our school will provide opportunities for parents to be involved and engaged in their children’s education. The plan describes ongoing forms of parent/guardian involvement and engagement. A hard copy of this plan is available for viewing in the CHS Parent Resource Center (CHS Counseling Center, 2nd floor). The plan can also be viewed under the Just For Parents section on the CHS website (http://www.cookevillecavs.com). We value your opinion and are open to suggestions on ways we can continue to build ties between home and school, even at the secondary level.

  • CHS Parent Resource Center: Located on the 2nd floor in the Counseling Center, the CHS Parent Resource Center is the “go-to” place for many resources, including but not limited to materials regarding curriculum, testing, counseling services, and home-life and social issues. You may take many of these resources home, and some are available for checkout. We ask that you please check in at the Main Office if you wish to visit the Parent Resource Center.

  • Tennessee School Improvement Planning Process: Each year a committee, including our CHS administrative team, teachers, community members, students, and parents works together to evaluate the needs of our school and update a plan with action steps to continuing improving our school. This is called our TSIPP plan. The action steps for this plan are available for viewing by all parents (Curriculum Office, 3rd Floor). Your feedback is valuable to us, and there is a place in the TSIPP notebook for you to make comments and or suggestions.

  • Online Parent and Student Surveys: NEW this school year, please watch our school website for opportunities to provide quick feedback on a variety of school issues! Just take the online survey!
